- Quick & easy to prepare. This recipe can be made in less than 10 minutes with only 5 ingredients.
- Healing diet friendly. This recipe is gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, and egg-free. Whether you are eating GAPS, Paleo, whole food, Whole30, or just becoming more ingredient aware, this recipe is compatible with many healing diets.
- Naturally sweetened. We have made this recipe with both raw honey and with pure maple syrup. Both are excellent and eliminate the need for refined and processed sugar.

Is Cacao/Cocoa Allowed On The GAPS Diet Protocol?
Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride answers “When can cocoa be introduced?” on gaps.me
“Cocoa is SCD illegal. However, I find that many people can start having it occasionally on the Full GAPS Diet, once the digestive symptoms are gone. Find pure organic cocoa powder. Mixing the powder with some honey and sour cream makes a delicious dessert, and you can add it to your homemade ice cream or cakes. After trying it for the first time, observe your patient for any reactions. Cocoa is very rich in magnesium and some essential amino acids and, unless your digestive system is not ready for it, there is no need to avoid it.”

Notes
-
- We often make homemade chocolate, as it is sometimes simpler and easier to make (and healthier). Use this simple 3 ingredient homemade chocolate recipe in place of chocolate chips, if desired.
-
- These bars freeze and thaw well, making them a great addition to your freezer meal plan!
-
- The coconut oil helps harden the chocolate in this recipe. If you do not like coconut, you can use another neutral flavored fat or butter.
